The Gaza Strip is facing a catastrophic humanitarian crisis.
As of now, the Gaza Strip is experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian emergency. Tragically, there have been 26,900 deaths as of January 31, 2024. The situation is dire with no electricity access, and all medical supplies have been fully exhausted, according to the Ministry of Health. Palestinians are suffering without essential services, including electricity, water, food, and healthcare.
In this critical time, the people of Gaza need your immediate support more than ever.

How YOU can help?
Support Islamic Relief in helping to respond and meet the needs of the people in Morocco and Libya that have been affected by the disasters. Every donation helps no matter how small.

“Those who spend their wealth in charity day and night, secretly and openly—their reward is with their Lord, and there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve” [Qur’an 2:274].
You can donate through the link in the @uw_osp bio and also at our many booths at TaqwaCon!
For our first fundraiser of the Winter 2022 term, we decided to raise $2000 towards a general orphan fund.
Proceeds would go to helping orphans in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe who have been impacted by humanitarian crises.
For our final fundraiser of the Fall 2021 term, we decided to raise money to help sponsor Syrian & Uyghur orphans in collaboration with the Human Concern International organization!
The money raised went to providing children’s basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and healthcare.
More information on Human Concern International can be found on their website.
We introduced our first merch collection in October 2021, with all proceeds raised going towards additional long-term orphanage sponsorship through the Islamic Relief Foundation.
A huge shoutout to @kalimat.ca for bringing our visions to life!
Everyday millions of children around the Earth face an unimaginable amount of pain and adversity. Deprived of basic necessities and support, many children are left increasingly vulnerable and face a bleak life. We decided to raise funds in support of these children impacted by war and poverty, offering them the chance for a brighter future.
At the end of our campaign, we met our goal of raising $1500! These collected funds allowed us to provide critical care and support to orphaned children across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe.
In collaboration with the UW MSA, we hosted our first ever art gallery! We had a variety of submissions, from paintings to poems to calligraphy. After presenting each submission, we had the audience vote on their top 2 favourite pieces.
Congratulations to Hania Tahir and Sarah Ahmed for winning the contest! You can see their pieces above. Congratulations to Rabiya Majeed as well for winning the random audience prize.
Thank you to our sponsors @dippamine, @cocoish_dreams, and @potsimple for providing us with the prizes for this event!
Indigenous women disproportionately face higher levels of gender-based violence and abuse in Canada. According to Statistics Canada, rates of spousal assault against Indigenous women are more than three times higher than those against non-Indigenous women. We set forth to fundraise money for a pre and post-natal program to help Indigenous women and their young children in situations of domestic abuse as well as those who require mental health and housing support.
Despite not reaching our initial goal, we were still able to raise $1720 and managed to provide housing support, counselling, food/clothing, and other support to the Indigenous women in need!
For our last fundraiser of the Winter 2021 term, we decided to try to raise $7500 to provide a year of education to 75 children in Gaza, where economic, political and social barriers have hindered access to safe and quality education for the large population of youth there.
Although we didn't reach our initial goal, we still managed to raise $4627, which allowed us to provide education for 61 children in Gaza!
With over two-thirds of its population at risk of serious health conditions and even death due to severe food insecurity, Yemen is currently undergoing the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. So, we decided to raise money to provide a month of food for 66 families in Yemen. The food relief would be given through the IDRF.
Our initial goal was to raise $4300 in 15 days. By the end of the fundraiser however, we had raised a total of $4901, allowing us to provide a month of food for 75 families.
With water being a fundamental human need, we decided to raise money to build 6 water wells in communities in Niger, where food and water insecurity are intensified by poverty, environmental degradation, and other conditions. The wells would be built through the IDRF.
Though our initial goal had been to raise $2550 in 6 weeks, through the generosity of all our donors, we were able to raise $2570 in just under 3 days! With the construction of these wells, we'll be able to help provide clean water and proper sanitation for these communities for years to come.
